Finishing School
Yay finally I don't need to wake up early, I mean I like school but it is just that we have to always wake up early and sometimes I get tired while I am at school. Oh and this term I have this challenge to see how many books we are going to read. The amount of books I said I was going to read was 5 and so was my friend Tauola. After reading one book I have to write a story review on that book.

Commercial Fishing in New Zealand
- New Zealand’s commercial fishing sector has built over the last 30 years.
- In the 1970s our fishing industry was largely an inshore affair.
- Offshore waters, beyond our 12 nautical mile Territorial Sea, were fished by the Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean, and Soviet vessels.
- With the introduction of the 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone in 1977 and the introduction of the quota management system in 1986, many New Zealand companies went on to invest in fishing vessels to fish the available catch and onshore factories to process the catch.
- The industry has also grown from being a predominantly domestic supplier to one of the nation’s leading export industries. In excess of 90 percent of all fish landed is exported.

Hunting The Hunters By Mary Sutherland
These facts is based on an article about Spiders.
- Not all spiders catch their food in webs of silky silk.
- Some hunt for their food, stalking and pouncing on their prey, in much the same way as a cat does.
- Because many hunting spiders are night-shifting workers, the best time to look them is after dark.
- Six of the spider’s eight eyes work like mirrors.
- They reflect back a little of any light that reaches them.
- Light travels in straight lines, so if you hold you torch at eye level and shine it down into the eyes of a hunting spider.
- If a spider is carrying an egg sac or even a piggy-backing it’s babies, you’ll know that it’s a female spider.

The Kakapo
- The Kakapo use their short wings for balance and support rather than flapping.
- Their feathers are much softer than any other birds because they do not need to be strong and stiff enough to support flight.
- Even though they can’t fly they manage to get around.
- The Kakapo has strong legs which make them good hiking and climbing legs.
- On the ground they move around jog-like gait.

This is some lyrics to a song that I really like and I really hope that you guys will get to like this song and it is called 'Like A Drum' and the singer is Guy Sebestion.I hope you guys enjoy it.
"Like A Drum"
Sometimes I can't remember
If these ashes came from flames
And if we relight these embers
Will they just burn out again?
We can try, we should try
Someday I know we're gonna feel again
Just like we did when we were younger
Someday I know we're gonna beat again
Gonna beat again like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Just 'cause I, I can't measure and I can't hold it in my hands
Doesn't mean, doesn't mean that I should just give up on chance
We can try, we should try
Someday I know we're gonna feel again
Just like we did when we were younger
Someday I know we're gonna beat again
Gonna beat again like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
We're gonna beat again
I can already hear the sound
And we're gonna beat again
Yes, I know that it shakes the ground
Ain't gonna miss a beat
Ain't gonna miss a beat
Ain't gonna miss a beat, yeah
Someday I know we're gonna feel again
Just like we did when we were younger
Someday I know we're gonna beat again
Gonna beat again like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Someday I know we're gonna feel again
Just like we did when we were younger
Someday I know we're gonna beat again
Gonna beat again like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Like a drum
Glenbrae School Day
This is something I did in my new class. We had to write down each clause and write down what they mean to us.This is all I could understand from the clause and I hope you guys enjoy it.
Clause 1:We are Respectful, kind and helpful.
We can be respectful by respecting the teacher when he/she is talking.
If someone is sad you can be kind by cheering them up.
When a teacher or a student is struggling to carry something then you should go and help them carry stuff.
Clause 2:We look after ourselves and others.
We can look after ourselves by staying away from places you are not supposed to go to.
If a little kid was to go behind the school you should help them by telling them to not go in that area because the teachers won’t know where they are.
Clause 3:We are honest.
If someone stole something and you knew about it you should tell the teacher because you will be an honest person.
If you stole something you should return it and tell the truth if you did because it is bad to steal someone else stuff.
Clause 4:We look after property.
We can look after our own property by not leaving it around the classroom.
We can also look after other peoples property, if someone lends you something to use you have to look after it and when you have down using it you should give it back the way they gave it to you.
Clause 5:We are active listeners and confident speakers.
We should be active listeners in the classroom by listening to the teacher if he/she gives instructions or is talking.
If a teacher asks you a question you should be a confident speaker and answer him/her.
Clause 6:We work hard and help each other to achieve.
We can work hard by focusing on our work and not get distracted.
We can help each other to achieve by not disturbing them.
Last Day of Softball Practice
Last Softball practice:
Today was an exciting day because it was the last day to practice because Mrs Tofa was picking the team out and I was excited and also scared at the same time. When the clock hit 1:00pm, I started getting excited and nervous at the same time. Then I went and washed my face so I could calm down. After that I went and had my milk and then I was really calm except for me being really excited. When the second bell rang, we had to stay in for 5 minutes because the lunch bell rang 5 minutes late.
After that 5 minutes, Keti and I ran to the field and grabbed a clove. Seconds later Mrs Tofa came up and told us to come because the Year 7 and 8’s were batting first. I started getting scared again but then when I batted, I became very happy because I did it. After that I started to steal the bases and when Keti hit the ball I ran all the way to the home base. The only reason I got to home base faster was because I was steeling the bases while they were bowling.
But when I hit home base I was so tired and relieved that I actually made it to home base, I never thought I would make it to home base.Man when I was watching all the other students batting and I was amazed because they were very good hits. When it was my second turn to bat again I tried my very best to bat my farest I could and it wasn’t that bad.
When I hit that ball I ran straight to base 1 and they couldn’t get me out before I got to 1st base. While the bowler was bowling I was already stealing bases. When the next batter battered I was running to home base.Wow did that feel good to get back to home base.
After that practice was over and Mrs Tofa said that all the girls that showed up are on the team.I was really really excited, I kept jumping up and down because I was that excited.I even couldn’t wait for the next day to hurry up and come, I even started preparing myself and I even went to sleep early.
